A New Development For 2017

09/03/2017 09:34

You may have heard our exciting news already in the classic motoring press, but if not, keep reading!

2017 is looking to be an exciting year here at SU HQ. After 4 years in development we can finally announce that we will be introducing to the market, a revolutionary new fuel injection system that hides within an SU Carburettor. The carburettor mounted components of the system are so well hidden you would be unlikely to recognise the difference!

The system will be supplied complete with ECU and all components required to fit, including the new carburettor units.

Initial tests are complete and have been conducted using a Jaguar 4.2 E-Type engine both on the dyno and in the car. The first kit to be released will be for this engine with further developments following on swiftly afterwards. Expect improvements in power, torque, drivability and emissions.

Component parts have been developed with different types and sizes of SU carburettor in mind, ensuring that as broad a range of vehicles as possible can be covered.

Development is continuing with an initial launch aimed for later in the year, however, if you’re eager to learn a little more pop down to see us at the Goodwood Members Meeting over the weekend of 18th/19th March where we will be displaying the prototype systems.

The winner has to demonstrate excellence in research, presentation, readability and novelty, that will materially further our understanding of the subject. A short list of nominated books were assessed by a panel of judges, who are themselves respected authors and highly knowledgeable enthusiasts. On to Autosport

11/01/2016 09:58

Straight back into the swing of things this year, we are off to the Autosport International Show this week.

If you’re going to the show drop by and see us on stand 7665 near the main entrance by the Historic area.

We’ll be showcasing the complete line up of SU Carburetters including the latest stage of development of the hotly awaited DU range of twin choke SU’s. The DU4 (1 ½”) and DU6 (1 ¾”) Carburetters are a faithful re-introduction of the 1950’s racing carburetter made famous by its fitment to Coventry Climax FPF race engines. They will be available shortly in both race and road-going specifications.

The SU Carburetters Works Mini Cooper S will be on display sporting an interesting carburettor fitment, in no small way related to the above!

Finally, if you’ve ever wondered what’s in the name SU, then ponder no longer! We’ve written a book all about it. ‘Skinners Union’ the book will be available to buy at the show.

We look forward to seeing you there.

HD Spindle Seal Kit

08/11/2013 12:06

Due to the effect of ethanol on cork we have devised a new method of sealing the throttle spindle seals on HD carburetters.

The kit consists of 2 ‘rubber’ seals and two spacers (enough for one carb). The rubber seal is placed on the spindle with the lip towards the carb body and the retainer is then pressed into the spindle housing until flush with the body.

The new seals give an efficient seal against air leaks which will not degrade in Ethanol added fuels.

Note; The bore of the retainer is larger than that of the spindle so as to give a clearance. The existing seal system kits are still available under part number WZX 994.
